Mulberry & Second is a vintage and contemporary furniture gallery in Chattanooga, Tennessee, specializing in 20th-century modern design, postmodern lighting, pre-owned collectible classics and home decor.
This set of four architectural counter stools was produced by luxury German manufacturer Allmilmö. Best known for premium kitchen engineering, the brand designed these stools as a masterclass in post-modern geometric woodwork.
The design is anchored by a striking slatted seat featuring concentric, semi-circular cutouts that create an open graphic arch. A continuous, steam-bent wood backrest sweeps forward into a seamless horseshoe armrest, supported by clean cylindrical pillars. The base mirrors these curves with a dramatic horseshoe footprint that provides excellent structural stability. Finished in a warm, rich chestnut stain that highlights the active wood grain, these stools balance a minimalist, sculptural silhouette with structural permanence.

This hand-painted vase is a standout example of the Tenera series, one of the most influential ceramic collaborations of the mid-20th century. Launched in the late 1950s by art director Nils Thorsson, the Tenera line brought together six young female designers from across Scandinavia to revitalize Danish pottery. Moving away from formal porcelain, these artists were given total creative freedom to experiment with Fajance (tin-glazed earthenware), resulting in a "folk-modern" aesthetic that redefined the Royal Copenhagen brand.
This "Pillow Vase" (Shape 3121) features the iconic botanical motif designed by Norwegian ceramicist Grethe Helland-Hansen. The deep indigo and cobalt "blueberry" patterns are hand-painted, ensuring that no two pieces are exactly alike. The design is celebrated for its rich, buttery glaze and its successful marriage of traditional European craftsmanship with the bold, graphic energy of the 1960s.
This piece bears the original Aluminia "A" mark, identifying it as an early production piece from the mid-1960s. Aluminia was the specialized earthenware workshop of Royal Copenhagen; pieces bearing this mark are particularly prized by collectors as they represent the original, small-batch run of the Tenera line before the brands fully merged in 1969.

Attributed to Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates
This iconic coffee table (Model 2041-T) is a definitive example of the architectural "Sculptural Modernism" that transformed American interiors in the late 1950s. The base is crafted from solid wood, exhibiting the deep, open-pore grain and rich "cathedral" patterns characteristic of solid American Walnut.
The design features four interlocking tapered fins that create a dramatic, geometric silhouette—a hallmark of the legendary Adrian Pearsall. This piece has been thoughtfully updated for modern use with a clear, 3/8-inch tempered glass top and discreet black silicone cushions to protect the integrity of the wood. With its perfect balance of organic warmth and transparent lightness, this table remains a commanding statement piece of 20th-century design history.
